Well, not much to say except that it's not every day you find something so wonderful so close to the road. It was a blast. I loved it! I saw it on my way back from a trip I took to Burgos.
I passed through on my way to Asturias and had though to make a visit but, to tell the truth, I really didn’t think I was going to like it as much as I did. Maybe I was lucky, but the day I went it was full of water (always good when it comes to waterfalls!).
The views on the road up from Arredondo to Puerto de Asón are stunning. There are horseshoe bends everywhere, and you'll inevitably stop the car and admire the great waterfalls which give birth to the Asón River.
Usually, the area is quite windy and you'll often see what appear to be giant sheets of water mist sliding down the vertical walls of the mountain.
I'd highly recommend going in spring just after the snow melts, but it's also a cool area in winter then it's covered in snow.
Friends recommended we visit and decided to do the trail from Arredondo, which was very nice and quite moderate. There’s also a much shorter one from Asón.
If you're looking for an experience to get in touch with nature, I'd really recommend it!
