Wild and pristine
The old fort Birdoswald Roman, one of the strongest points is now a kind of thematic center of the Roman Empire and the remains that survive today. Together with the site of Vindolanda, it's one of the most visited by travelers in Hadrian's Wall. It presents one of the most comprehensive global views, but in my opinion not as impressive as Vindolanda. Birdoswald, is one of the Roman forts that's better conserved (3rd century) and where archaeologists have worked more, according to the wealth of the remains that have been found in excavations.
