Biar Castle

When I arrived at the feet of the castle, I realized that it was under restoration (like many other ancient castles). However, this didn’t impede the visit and the climb to the top from being fun. The townspeople congregate at the bottom of the castle during the afternoons, so you’ll be running into locals as you head towards its entrance. They’ll help you out: one will tell you how to get to the castle, another will tell you a story, another will give you some almonds, etc.

Pretty, very attractive town, but the castle didn’t impress me much. It felt too modern, as it was recently restored, with too much cement… It was, however, inexpensive. It cost 1 Euro for the visit. The interior chambers were the best part, as well as the view from the top of the towers.
