Hoppers Galore!
Dambullah is definitely not one of the world's culinary capitals. Most of the restaurants are tourist-oriented pizza places or locals curry joints which, while delicious, can be a bit intimidating at first (but only at first; once you go in and sit down, the servers are as friendly as everyone else in Sri Lanka!). One of the best places to grab lunch or a quick snack is the Bentota Bakehouse, located not far from the bus stop on the main street in Dambullah.
They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and serve everything from simple pastries to hearty rice and curry lunches (Sri Lanka's national dish) and hoppers, a Sri Lankan specialty that I absolutely fell in love with. Hoppers are a sort of crepe made with flour, yeast and coconut milk which are cooked over an open flame in deep round pans so that the end product kind of forms a bowl shape. You can get plain hoppers (just the crepe) or the egg hoppers which have an egg cracked into the middle of them.
