Highest peak of the Ochil Hills
There was no snow, but it was windy and cold when I decided to climb the highest peak of the Ochil Hills, Ben Cleuch, following the path from Tillicoultry through the valley of Glen Mill. Although the mountain has little more than 700 meters, don't underestimate the climb. It's a grueling climb that takes about 4 hours to complete. First comes The Law, a very steep mountain where we found ourselves literally climbing stone, or "scrambling" as it is locally known. From the summit of 600m, the climb to Ben Cleuch is a pleasant walk, wind permitting. Finally, we found ourselves at the highest point in the Stirling area.
