Bastides Studio

Jean Galmot (1879-1928) fut député de la Guyane. Il entama une lutte pour défendre les habitants de cette région d'Amérique du Sud avant d'être assassiné. Il fut injustement "oublié" pendant plus de 70 ans. Ainsi, à Monpazier une association a été fondée pour remédier à cette erreur et faire connaître la vie chargée de cet individu dont l'une des propriétés fut transformée en musée dédié aux monpaziens. L'Atelier des Bastides propose plusieurs expositions dont l'une dédiée à Jean Galmot, une autre à l'histoire de la ville par le biais d'anciens clichés et une autre, temporaire, consacrée à un artiste de la région. La visite de ce musée m'a vraiment plu et je la conseille vivement aux personnes susceptibles d'aller dans ce coin de la France.

Jean Galmot (1879-1928) was a member of Guyana. He began a struggle to defend the people of this region of South America before being murdered. He was unfairly "forgotten" for over 70 years. Thus, Monpazier association was founded to address the error and know the busy life of the individual, one of the properties was transformed into a museum dedicated to monpaziens. The Workshop Bastide offers several exhibitions, including one dedicated to Jean Galmot, another in the history of the city through old photos and other temporary, dedicated to a local artist. Visiting this museum really liked me and I highly recommend to people who might go in this corner of France.
