Barraca Vermelha

Piranguinho é conhecida nacionalmente como a capital do pé de moleque e não é difícil encontrar barracas que vendam a guloseima. Uma das mais tradicionais pontos de venda é a barraca vermelha, localizada as margens da BR-459. Na barraca é possível saborear a versão tradicional e a de amendoim moído, que custam R$1,80. Os doces começaram a ser vendidos na década de 30, por Dona Matilde Cunha Torino, que se dedicava a produção caseira do doce de amendoim com rapadura que era vendido na estação da cidade. Com o aumento da demanda, a doceira passou a vender os doces na rodovia, na barraca amarela. Entre os ilustres consumidores estão o escritor José Alencar, o presidente Tancredo Neves, o músico Herbert Viana e o escritor Carlos Drummont de Andrade.
