Tra Frascati e Monte Porzio Catone, si incontra un complesso archeologico che ha dell'incredibile. Lo si capisce subito da come si presenta nelle sue parti visibili: una enorme spianata a forma quadrangolare 'equipaggiata' con fontana monumentale e casali, dentro un lunghissimo muro di età rinascimentale, tutto da costeggiare, immerso in un paesaggio incantevole circondato da boschetti e uliveti. Il Barco Borghese affascina anche per via delle sue sostruzioni, strutture che sorreggono un insieme di ambienti a volta di età romana, ancora avvolti dal mistero. Gli studi ancora in corso ci raccontano che forse il tutto esisteva già nel I secolo avanti Cristo e che sicuramente nel I d. C. rappresentava il basamento di una vasta proprietà imperiale che si estendeva tra Frascti e la località Cocciano, a pochi chilometri da qui. Sembra che parte della sua storia sia legata alla destinazione d'uso: deposito di polveri di marmo utilizzabili per la realizzazione di dipinti. Qualunque sia la 'vera' verità (!), di questo luogo ci si innamora al primo sguardo e non si vede l'ora di ritornarci (le visite vanno prenotate).
