Barcelona Mayor Synagogue

The Ancient Synagogue of Barcelona is located in the basement of the building running alongside Sant Domènec del Call street, L'Arc de Sant Ramón street, Marlet street and the current Manuel Ribé square.

Today we find a building started in the Roman period, got its central structure in the 13th century and was modified in the 17th century when the upper floors were built.

The access door to the building at Marlet street number 5 is quite low because the level of the current street is higher than it used to be in the Roman period, in which it was built. This is why you have to bend down and go down the stairs to the floor because it does not match with the current street one, as we said.
