One of the first on Calle Van Dyck
The Churrasco (barbecued or grilled meat) is a typical Salamancan bar, in particular, a bar typically found on Calle Van Dyck, with the added incentive of being one of the first on this famous street.
In its favour are several things: the location, size, quality and good service. Against ... that it is one of many.
It is very close to the cinemas, on the corner of calle de las Salesas. Through its windows, you can see what's cooking inside. The site is rather large and usually quite comfortable, whether it be at a small table, a high table or the bar itself, however there are days when you cannot move.
Here it is typical to order a caña (small beer), wine or soft drink and be presented with a complimentary tapa de costilla (tapas of ribs), quite big and tasty. If you want anything else from what they have on offer as tapas you’ll have to order it at the same time as your drinks. Like for example, the loin. But hey, they ask when you order. I, without a doubt, recommend that every time you go to the bar you say, “Una caña y tapa de costilla”. "It's amazing, really.
Prices are fairly affordable, like everything in this area and the rations, both complimented and paid for are quite big and tasty. Although it is best to order only drinks, eating tapas and, after a while, change bar and continue the ritual.
It is worth at least ordering a couple here and then later go onto any of the bars on offer in this beautiful city.
I recall the beer costing 1.5 euros more or less.
