Walking in Balestrand
Balestrand is a very small town on the banks of Sognefjord, which is a good base for exploring the environment. It's not as crowded as other places such as Sogndal, which gives it a quieter air, altered only by tourists. There are two ways to get there, by ferry from Bergen, or by car. We went by car and I think this is the best way to learn Norwegian. We drove nearly 200km through high mountain roads separating Vangsnes Bergen, where you catch the ferry to Dragsvki, and just 2km from Balestrand. The drive took about 4 hours and can also take the E39. The experience of being there was worth it.
