A unique street
The Bajatova is a unique street for many reasons. The first is structural: it is a street formed by a staircase that starts in the centre of Mostar and climbs for a couple of kilometres. But it's also important because it houses many significant buildings: where Nesuhaga Vicijakovic was born, a mosque, a clock tower dating back to 1600, and the small Museum of Herzegovina. Following an underground passage, you reach the Orthodox Church. But the most striking thing about this road is that at the beginning of the stairs, on both sides - right in the heart of the city - is a cemetery: white graves where the victims of the war between 1993 and 1995 are buried.
