Esplanade

Dar un paseo por la "Esplanade", o paseo marítimo de Oamaru, es darse un gusto a los sentidos. Los carteles que alertan de que los increíbles pingüinos azules están en la zona ya es suficiente emoción para recorrer, con los ojos bien abiertos, la bahía de Oamaru, en su busca. Si no los consigues avistar gratuitamente en su hábitat natural, siempre tienes la posibilidad de pagar en el Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony, aunque a nosotros ese lugar nos parecía un circo, a costa de los animales y decidimos no hacerlo. Al final de la esplanada, un enorme jardín de juegos para niños y mayores nos sorprendió por sus esculturas de pingüinos, pelícanos y lobos marinos, sobre los troncos secos de enormes árboles. Una verdadera obra de arte.
