An iconic building

Excellent

The nineteenth century town hall building is one of the most prominent in the city center. You'll find a plaque here telling you a little bit about its history. The building was once used to trade cloth from Virginia, in the United States. In 1825 the architect Francis Webster renovated it, adding some meeting rooms and pool halls to turn it into a club. In 1893 the tower and clock were added, and everything is designed in a neo-classical style.
