Exceeds our capacity to understand

Uluru is one of those places that exceeds our capacity to understand. Its appearance changes with the time of day and your distance from it. It is, though, an amazing and worthwhile visit at least once in your lifetime. The best way to fully appreciate its size is to go walking around the base. You can discover the countless details of the surface of the rock. It seems to be almost a living thing that is constantly changing. I remember made the 9km route almost in a trance, not really believing what I was looking at nor understanding it. You can do sections of the trail which give a good idea of what it's all about.

Miles from civilization

At Uluru, there are kilometers and kilometers of pure desert all around and you're hours from the nearest city. All of a sudden, WHAM! You see a fire-red rock 3-kilometers wide jutting up over the horizon. It's sacred for the Aborigines and there are thousands of legends that swirl around it.

A sacred place

Uluru is the largest monolith in the world and a sacred place for Aborigines. It's most spectacular at dawn...just incredible. It's worth getting up early.

Nothing Beats the Sunset in an amazing place

Even the flies could not ruin this moment.
