Asuka-dera

The Asukadera is a small temple located in the Asuka region which is considered the birthplace of Japanese culture. The oldest Buddha in Japan can be found here. It was originally gold plated but now (as a result of a big fire), it has dents and some of the balls that make up the hair have fallen. This produces more of a venerable effect though and brings a special magic to the already magical temple.
