A hostel is what it is
When I went in September 2008 to London we stayed 1 night in this hostel that we found on hostelworld.Com. Choosing a hostel in London is a chore because if they are centrally located they are expensive and bad, and those that are further away are too far away. The Astor Kensington is a middle ground, it's a few meters from Gloucester Road metro station and 5 minutes walk from the Kensington museums (Natural History, Victoria & Albert, etc). A hostel is what it is. The rooms are quite nice with the slight problem that it's next to the noisy metro. Moreover this hostel has, what I think is a great advantage, a giant supermarket open 24 hours less than a minutes walk away.
