Mount Artxanda

Across the river from the Guggenheim museum is a small entrance leading to the Artxanda Funincular, a oldish tram which takes you up the side of a mountain to one of the best views of Bilbao. Now, it's no exaggeration when I say this was the favorite thing I did during my entire stay in Bilbao (besides pintxos and guzzling txakoli, of course). The view of the city is unbeatable and even in Bilbao's famously drab weather, the clouds circuling the moutaintops and dipping low over the city's buildings in a dramatic sight. I'd recommend grabbing some picnic goods in town then heading up to the top
