Fertile land of lemons, oranges, grapes
The almond trees are already in bloom, white and lilac stain the hillsides, the king can see them from above. He clings to the battlements of the Bentomiz fortress, waiting for the Christian hosts, with whom he has signed a pact. The king hears the echo of the muezzin calling to prayer from the minaret of Daimalos and from Arenas. The almond trees are in bloom and some of these flowers are raised outdoors in the breeze. The king looks at the sea and sees the dim outline of Africa, thinking of that route they took to reach these lands, and of his ancestors, he gazes into the horizon. This fortress, was first Iberian, then taken over by the Phoenicians, followed by the Greeks and then the Romans, and is now under Arab control.
