Lake Arenal

Although surrounded by this beautiful artificial lake at the foot of the mountains, I was disappointed not to be able to see the lava from the volcano because of the weather. Anyway, I would still recommend bodear lake, with it's stunning scenery and plenty of wildlife. Beware of the road though, which is in good condition but there are frequent landslides. This lake is particularly popular with fishermen and windsurfers.
