Ararà Tower

Arara Tower is the best preserved part of the walls of Hostalric. It was restored about ten years ago and the interior can be accessed by a spiral staircase. For a while it was used as a prison and it was here that the Patriots took refuge to fight the French in the War of Independence. Due to its height it's a good place to appreciate the fortifications of the lower city. Access is by the coastal path starting at the Puerta de Barcelona.
