Great vantage point
Located in the highest part of the town, from this location you can see the coast up to the Bay of Algeciras and also the Ronda mountains. The preserved remains and excavations have shed no light on the medieval settlement. The first references we have are from the thirteenth century. The walls are irregular in their polygon-shape and have a perimeter of 770 meters. The gates are best-preserved, "Arco de la Villa" and "Arco del Arrabal", and the castle itself retains just a tower and part of the walls but these are very well preserved.
