In Passau in early August I was in a little alley with a good slope to it. There was a man pulling his bike along with a good bit of effort. If you have time you should browse the bike route from Passau to Vienna. It's worth it. You can choose how many miles you do each day. The accommodation is secured. The scenery is splendid and every village you pass by offers you something interesting to do.
