Aix en Provence

I had long wanted to visit this French city. A cruise gave me an opportunity of doing so even for only a few hours. The visit began with a tour of the city, which retains much of its medieval layout. First we visited the Cathedral, which mixes Roman elements, like the front facade, with Romantic and Gothic. On leaving we passed under the city hall tower and we arrived at the main square with its lively, popular market.
