Agres Convent

En la zona mas elevada de Agres se erige el Convento de la Virgen del Castillo de Agres, que fue erigido en 1577 y es el emblema de esta población. Hasta el acuden todos los fines de semana multitud de personas ya sea por devoción o por la singularidad del paisaje. Detrás del convento se pueden observar las ruinas del castillo musulmán. La historia cuenta que tras incendiarse la Iglesia de la Virgen de Santa María de Agres el último día de agosto de 1484 la imagen de la virgen había desaparecido y que la encontró el pastor Gaspar Tomas, encima de un almez en las ruinas del castillo musulmán. En ese momento se produjo el milagro y la virgen dió al pastor el brazo que le faltaba. La volvieron a trasladar a la Iglesia y al día siguiente había vuelto a desaparecer y volvía a estar en el mismo lugar por lo que supusieron que la virgen quería estar allí y le construyeron una ermita. Y esto es el principio de una larga historia.
