Torre Agbar

Called Agbar because it belongs to the Aiguas of Barcelona, this tower revolutionized the city's skyline when it was built a few years ago.

I had the opportunity to go inside, but the interior visit is usually only for shareholders and friends of employees. It is located in Plaza de les Glories Catalanes, Glories subway station, but you have to move away a little in order to better see the towering structure. It was designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel, and as they explained to us, represents the entire flow of water, since it shoots up like a geyser, red and boiling, until it arrives to the glaciers and freezes, going through the liquid state and blue color.

The famous Agbar tower -one of the symbols of modern Barcelona- was built in 2005 following the design of the architect Jean Nouvel. It is situated at the gates of the new technological distric of the city, between Diagonal avenue and Badajoz street. According to the creator, the building was inspired in the architectural legacy of the great Gaudí and the landscape of Montserrat. The skyscrapers has 3 oval cylinders and is 145 meters high, which makes it the third highest building of Barcelona, after the Arts Hotel and the Mapfre tower.

I thought the apartment building of the Agbar tower was really surprising. From what I could find out, the French architect and designer Jean Nouvel built very much inspired in Gaudí's architecture, something that didn't surprise me at all because everything in Barcelona has his mark on it.

As a collaborator in the Agbar group I had the opportunity to have a guided visit and it is really spectacular. Even more than the exterior the technology, home automation, the intelligent lifts to the impressive dome from where you see all Barcelona! If you have the opportunity it is worth seeing!
