In the 100-year old Carnegie Library
The African American Museum (formerly Afro-American Cultural & Historical Society Museum) in Cleveland, Ohio, was founded by Ichabod Flewellen in 1953. The Museum is housed in the 100-year old Carnegie Library building and aims to educate young people about the positive contributions that blacks have made to the cultures of the world and to fight against distorted images of black people and culture.
