A relaxing and quiet atmosphere
1.20 am, we are walking in Pez street in Madrid. Maravillas, Universidad or Malasaña neighborhood, whatever you prefer to call it. The first one is the old name, the second the official one, the third is the one of the first local movement and of course, the one of the 80's "movida madrileña".
The flavor of the neighborhood radiates something very "Madrid" like, where the most modern is mixed with the oldest, the dusty with the sophisticated in a small area.
There are few neighborhoods enjoying this status of being pure Madrid, where everyone is accepted without discrimination, without ghettos and without elite. The area with small places is without a doubt known for the alternative atmosphere and the nightlife.
In 1919, a small design boutique hotel, the Abalú, with 15 rooms spread on two floors and each one decorated in a unique and personal way. A relaxing and quiet atmosphere to enjoy the decoration of the space, inspired in the fifties, retro and cosmopolitan.
The location is unbeatable, as much for nightlife fans as for those who want to visit monuments, museums and cultural centers the capital city of Spain offers.
We spent the night in a very comfortable business junior suite and we had breakfast in the funny Beauty Bar, then leaving the place to go and discover this traditional and original neighborhood.
