A boutique hotel with a personalized design
This is one of the hotels I know solely due to my son's unique phisiological emergencies that only seem to happen when we're on vacation. We were walking along the Riverwalk in Chicago and this hotel was the only toilet around. Consequently, I can only speak about public areas and the exterior. The 71 is a four-star hotel on Wacker Drive in the north part of Koop, facing the river. Its location is good as it is within walking distance of Michigan Avenue and the theater district. It'simmediately apparent that it's a boutique hotel with a personalized design and signature touches, nothing to do with the cold and impersonal nature of many chain hotels.
The style of decoration is minimalist and urban in nature, featuring predominantly dark colors and reds. I found that kind design a bit cold, almost Nordic, but there are many wooden elements that give it some warmth. In any case, it is very modern and aimed towards a yuppie-type audience. Its location is also good for business travelers.
